GRANT REQUEST:
The applicant is requesting approval of a Preservation and Restoration Grant for preservation,
rehabilitation, and restoration work. The total grant request is $40,000, which is equal to the
maximum grant allowance of $40,000. This grant would be in addition to the $5,000 signing
bonus for landmarking the structure and the $4,000 grant for the Historic Structure Assessment
previously approved for the property.
Under Resolution No. 17, Series 2019, owners of landmarked properties are eligible to apply for
Preservation and Restoration Grants. Approved work must fall under the categories of
preservation, rehabilitation, and/or restoration.
Resolution 17 includes a requirement that grant requests be received within 36 months of the
date a property is declared a landmark, per Section 12.a on page 8. City Council landmarked
1209 Main Street on June 6, 2023, making the deadline for grant requests June 6, 2026.
Staff finds that:
• All of the proposed work falls under either preservation, restoration, or rehabilitation as
noted in the table below.
• All of the work is recommended in the Historic Structure Assessment (HSA).
