That the variance, if granted, will not alter the <br />essential character of the neiahborhood or district in <br />which the oronerty is located, nor substantially or <br />permanently impair the appropriate use or development of <br />adiacent property. The staff finds that this criterion is <br />met. The proposed addition will not alter the residen- <br />tial character of the neighborhood. The size of the <br />house after modification is not excessively large or out <br />of scale with the surrounding neighborhood. <br />6. That the variance, if granted, is the minimum variance <br />that will afford relief and is the least modification <br />possible of the provisions of Title 17 of the Louisville <br />Municipal Code which are in auestion. The staff finds <br />that this criterion is met. The existing side yard and <br />street side yard setbacks at ground level are maintained. <br />This request to expand the existing residence to provide <br />additional, more usable living space is reasonable. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br />APPROVE the requested variances to allow a 0.8 foot side yard <br />setback where the requirement is seven (7) feet, a fourteen <br />(14) foot street side yard setback where the requirement is <br />twenty five (25) feet and 40% lot coverage where the require- <br />ment is 30% for construction of a two story addition to the <br />existing single family residence at 637 Lincoln Avenue. <br />
