Tofte voted “no” because she did not want to see the façade modified. th Public Hearing –Demolition – 1326 South 96 Street Koertje opened the public hearing. McCartney presented the staff report. He gave the history of the site and discussed the findings of the sub-committee. McCartney stated the applicant is planning to redevelop the property as a tennis center. Lewis asked the applicant if the current building is located within the right-of-way for th South 96 Street. William Boothby answered part of the building is in right-of-way, the other part is on the property. Tofte asked if there was another residential structure on this property. Boothby stated there is a newer residence located to the northeast of this historic structure. He stated the newer structure will be reused as a club house for the proposed tennis center. Koertje asked when the applicant is planning to demolish the structures. Boothby stated he would like to demolish the structures immediately but they still have some minor details to work out with the other property owners before they proceed with the project. Koertje asked when the applicant was going to submit. Boothby answered 30 to 60 days. Public Comments – None Commission Questions and Comments Poppitz stated he did not believe the structure has much merit for the following reasons: The structure is too close to the future right-of-way. It would need to be relocated. Stewart asked staff if all of the out buildings on the property are being considered as well. McCartney answered yes. Koertje stated he believed the structure had some good architectural integrity, but the social history was weak.
