The applicant should consider landmarking so funding can be used to restore the <br />tin siding. <br /> Poppitz seconded the motion. The motion carried 3 – 1. Tofte voted “no” because she <br />did not want to see the façade modified. <br />th <br />Public Hearing –Demolition – 1326 South 96 Street <br />Koertje opened the public hearing. <br />McCartney presented the staff report. He gave the history of the site and discussed the <br />findings of the sub-committee. McCartney stated the applicant is planning to redevelop <br />the property as a tennis center. <br />Lewis asked the applicant if the current building is located within the right-of-way for <br />th <br />South 96 Street. <br />William Boothby answered part of the building is in right-of-way, the other part is on the <br />property. <br />Tofte asked if there was another residential structure on this property. <br />Boothby stated there is a newer residence located to the northeast of this historic <br />structure. He stated the newer structure will be reused as a club house for the <br />proposed tennis center. <br />Koertje asked when the applicant is planning to demolish the structures. <br />Boothby stated he would like to demolish the structures immediately but they still have <br />some minor details to work out with the other property owners before they proceed with <br />the project. <br />Koertje asked when the applicant was going to submit. <br />Boothby answered 30 to 60 days. <br />Public Comments – None <br />Commission Questions and Comments <br />Poppitz stated he did not believe the structure has much merit for the following reasons: <br /> The structure is too close to the future right-of-way. It would need to be <br />relocated. <br />Stewart asked staff if all of the out buildings on the property are being considered as <br />well. <br />McCartney answered yes. <br />Koertje stated he believed the structure had some good architectural integrity, but the <br />social history was weak. <br />
