3. PROJECT DESCRIPTION (Please do not exceed space provided below.)
a. Provide a brief description of the proposed scope of work.
Mainly the proposal is the roof repair and replacement and the patio
drainage repair and installation of a sump pump and plumbing to drain the
water away from the house. The concrete removal is tied into the patio
work. The other items are interior maintenance and repairs.
b. Describe how the work will be carried out and by whom. Include a
description of elements to be rehabilitated or replaced and describe
preservation work techniques that will be used.
The work will be done by my contractor. Bert Brucker.
c. Explain why the project needs rehabilitation grant funds now. Include a
description of community support and /or community benefits, if any.
The roof and patio need to be address immediately. Currently water drains
into the basement, evident of the work that needs to be done to correct the
grade of water flow. The weight from the current trusses has created two
cracks that span the length of the house. One on the north side and one of
the south. The city inspector and my contractor, Bert, have both decided it
is from the weight of the layers of roofing that are currently on the home.
The trusses were hand built in 1932 and not designed to carry all the
weight from the 3 or 4 layers of shingles and nails.
The benefit to the community is the maintenance of one of its historical
homes.
