Parks & Public Landscaping Advisory Board
Minutes
July 10, 2024
Bryon Weber - included in the packets are plans for Enclave and Sunflower Park
Patricia Rogers requested remote attendees please add name to the chat
Public comments:
Bryon Weber began presentation on Enclave Plan: This is the third time these plans
have been reviewed, first time 60%, 80%, now 90% review of park plans. Feedback
from January review input to initial design. The playground area shifted to the west and
they eliminated a tier of seating
Seth Riseman: area of grass, with thistle in lawn of enclave -1122 W Enclave
Christina Riseman: concerned about location of seating, concern about moving storm
drainage, concern about amount of cement - could this new location cause flooding? Will
this be the type of mulch which will float? Metal edging can cut dogs feet
Other public comments: None, board can comment
Board Comments:
Ellen Toon to Bryon Weber: Has a decision been made about the cottonwoods?
Bryon Weber: Conversations taking place about storm water project and if that requires
removal of trees - no final decision has been made
Ellen Toon: Is the timeline of the storm water project similar?
Bryon Weber: The storm water project was planned to go first but has been pushed
back due to budgetary considerations and tree decisions.
Ellen Toon: Are these projects independent? Can the parks project move forward?
Bryon Weber: Haven't gotten confirmation yet. Get public input at this meeting to
understand what design changes might be needed. Don't yet have final plans and final
pricing. Sharing of cost of demolition, removal of sod, earthwork. There are many cost
savings and economies of scale if these projects are done together (storm water
project).
Rob Nevitt: resident, lives south of the cottonwood trees - opposed to petition to save the
cottonwoods, because they are not very healthy, long term the park will be better off with
planted, healthy trees.
Jody Ash: comment about too much concrete, can you speak to that?
5
