Cultural Advisory Board Meeting Minutes - Tuesday, July 9, 2024
1. Call to Order
2. Roll Call
o Kenny- attended
o Iris - attended
o JR - Attended
o Mohamed - Attended
o Sharon - Attended
o Sarah - Attended
3. Public Comments — Pollinator Mural
1. Susan - Image of the insect is not a bee or a fly. It's not representative of an actual bee.
A bumble bee would be a great insect to use. We would really like to see an accurate
representation of a bee. The pollination element needs to clearly represented i.e more
flower like to represent the pollination process.
2. John webb- Would like to make it a native bee. Will provide us illustrations of a native
bee.
3. Jody Ash- On the bee committee. Does not represent a bee.
4. Kenny said this may have been generated with Al.
JR said that he would like to go back to the artist and see if it would be more representative of a
bee. It needs to be a more realistic of a bee based on a quick google search.
Sara is curious if the painting used Al. Cars will be going over it and it will degrade over time.
Iris: Artist agreed to change the image to be an accurate representation. Will be using one of
John Webb's illustrations that will be sending.
JR: Will there be another public comment period once we get a new edition?
Iris: Hope is to agree on the art now so we can move forward.
Sharon: if we change the background then we will need a new piece of art. It might back us up a
month to 6 weeks to include 14 days of public comment.
Budget is $3000.
Sara: Motion to approve this art but to change the bee to be more representative of a native
specie of a bee and the background would look more like a flower. All approved.
