<br />Horticultural & Forestry Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />November 3, 2005 <br /> <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />Suggestions include less frequent mowing and edging of non-irrigated areas; <br />reduce spraying of herbicides, especially around trees; requiring contractor to <br />provide a list of employees who are certified operators; advantages of local <br />companies bidding on contract. <br />Theresa will draft memo to Land Management with recommendations and <br />questions. Memo will be emailed to all HFAB members for comment. <br /> <br />VII. Arboretum <br />Re weeding the Xeric Demonstration Garden, Chris will call Brian Wheat to <br />discuss Rotary schedule. <br /> <br />Re using Boulder County jail work crews for Arboretum maintenance, Theresa <br />reported that cities must pay for work crew time, although she has not been able <br />to determine the cost. <br /> <br />Chris reported that the city's staff attorney will establish the Arboretum's <br />501 (c)(3) non-profit status. Chris will provide progress update at next meeting. <br /> <br />Theresa and Chris will work on street signage for Arboretum entrance. <br /> <br />VIII. City Council Update <br />Theresa will draft a summary of HFAB's recent accomplishments and goals for <br />2007 to be presented to Council. <br /> <br />IX. Website development <br />Chris reported that the HFAB/Arboretum section of the city website has plenty of <br />space for additions, and can accommodate links to others sites. <br /> <br />X. Tree I.D. and Xeric Garden Plant I.D. Brochure <br />Tim offered to lead project to be completed this winter. He will determine tasks <br />and assistance needed, and report at December meeting. <br /> <br />XI. The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 pm. <br />
