Youth Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes

Public Comments - continued
-- The Soup kitchen volunteer event will NOT happen in January. The soup
kitchen the Y AB had planned to help will have far too many volunteers on
the day we had planned. We discussed other possible volunteer
opportunities for January, but no decision was reached. Board members
were asked to bring ideas to the next meeting in January.

Discussed subcommittees that will be needed for planning the 5k race.
. Publicity
. Donations
. Silent Auction
. Others- discussion was tabled until the January meeting, when Ture
Nycum is expected to return

Liaisons to other city boards and commissions- a schedule of Louisville
meetings was passed around and Olga encouraged everyone to sign up for at
least one meeting and commit to going to it so that the YAB members can report
about the issues being discussed that may impact the youth of Louisville.

-- Eyes and Ears - discussed the decision to close the public library on
Sundays and how this would impact Louisville youth. Fran mentioned that many
students use the library for homework purposes on Sundays and suggested that
perhaps the library could close another day. Ruby mentioned the Homework
Center that is open on weekdays and how useful it is for the students to have
that resource during the week.

Discussion Items for Next Meeting
Upcoming volunteer activities for January, February, March
Forming sub-committees for planning the 5k race
Planning and implementing work sessions for the sub-committees
Discuss other board meetings members may have attended

Adjourn - The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 P.M.
