Horticultural & Forestry Advisory Board
Minutes
December 7, 2006

VIII. City Council Update-Update from Theresa on 11/28 Study
Session

Theresa's presentation to City Council was well-received.

Theresa reported that the Arboretum's pergola has been included in the
2007 budget. Hooray. HFAB now needs to decide how the construction
documents should be prepared-either by Kathy Kron or by the bidding
design/build firms.

She also reported that Mayor Sisk expressed great appreciation for the
work done by CSU students designing the area around the History
Museum and the Arboretum. He would like to draft a letter from the office
of the Mayor, directed to the CSU program and President Penley, thanking
the students and the program for the helpful service they have given to the
City. [Who is following up on this?]

Theresa reported that some Council members have misconceptions about
HFAB and they type of service they provide to Louisville, so she explained
the focus of the Board for all Council members.

The City Council liked the idea of a section of books in the library
particularly recommended by HFAB for local gardening and design. They
like to see communication and connections made between various City
services and Boards.

The Council likes the idea of ID'ing more community garden plots within
the City.

Mayor Sisk praised the Community Park maintenance guide and would
like to see it go further, incorporating a similar approach to other City-
owned property.

IX. Ongoing development of HFAB's section on the City's
website

Chris reported that there is plenty of room on the website for links and
other information. It was suggested that a hit counter be installed so that
we can keep track of the site use by the public. [Chris, will you inquire
about this?]
