Superior Ballot Initiative - November 2006 <br /> <br />Approximately 65% voted against the initiative to raise $500,000 for library services. <br />Leaders from Louisville and Superior will continue discussions on the subject of <br />providing library services. <br /> <br />Data on Superior Usage: <br /> <br />· Currently 2,980 Superior residents have Louisville Library cards <br />· Currently 3,262 items are checked out to Superior patrons <br />· Since the year 2000, Superior patrons owe approximately $12,000 in fees and <br />fines <br /> <br />Options for Services to Superior Residents: <br /> <br />1. Maintain current situation <br />2. Charge Superior residents for library cards <br />3. Restrict usage (i.e., limits on certain items checked out at a time) <br /> <br />c. Strategic Plan <br /> <br />The last Strategic Plan was published in 2003, and the next is due in 2008. Board <br />members agreed to start working on the new plan this year and include projections <br />for the next 5 years. City staff will be asked for input on projected demographics. <br />Anne distributed an article "What Are Core Services Offered by Public Libraries?" to <br />assist Board members in their efforts. <br /> <br />D. Events <br /> <br />· One-year anniversary party in summer 2007 <br />· Staff appreciation event - spring breakfast for staff <br /> <br />E. Library Networking <br /> <br />· CAL annual conference - no Trustees attended this year, 6 staff attended <br />· Flatirons Library Consortium - Boulder, Broomfield, Louisville meet quarterly <br />· Lafayette, Longmont, Boulder and Louisville meet regularly <br />· Front Range (Pueblo - Ft. Collins) meet every other month <br /> <br />F. New Trustees <br /> <br />New Trustees will be interviewed and appointed by City Council in January. The <br />Board will elect new officers at the January 18, 2007 meeting. <br /> <br />G. RLA/Library District Regional Discussions <br /> <br />There is no support for an RLA from the Boulder County Commissioners now, but a <br />library district will remain a long-term goal for the Library Board. Ft. Collins passed a <br />new library district initiative in November. <br /> <br />H. Joseph Sikora Art Project <br />No new information to report. Alicia will continue to follow-up. <br />
