Eugene Kutscher Recreation Advisory Board There is a greater feeling of unity of vision for the future among board members and between board and staff members, when compared with a few years ago. Indoor and outdoor recreation as well as senior support needs are highly individual, and one critical function of this board is to identify those needs and coalesce around a plan of action to fulfill as many of the major needs as possible, without shortchanging a particular subset of the community. We have made an impact. There has been progress regarding the recognition that outdoor, as well as indoor facilities need regular maintenance. There is understanding of the need for inter -board cooperation, and thus we have formed a productive subcommittee with Parks . Nevertheless, I think that in a competitive chase for limited budget dollars, there needs to be larger thinking. A golf clubhouse presented one way could split the community apart on a bond issue, but presented as a new meeting and dining area for the community, with opportunities for events, concerts, tournaments, etc., it could further unite us and become the same source of pride the Recreation and Senior Center has become. I am not a golfer, but since joining the board I have become convinced of the importance of a new community center/golf club house and would work towards this goal as well.
