Photo and floor plan of 1016 Main from the 1948 Assessor's Card.
ARCHITECTURAL INTEGRITY:
1016 Main Street was documented in the PaleoWest "Stories in Places" residential context as
displaying a Queen Anne architectural style, one of three in Caledonia Place. It is likely that this
building was constructed from a Sears and Roebuck house kit. The property exhibits a front -
gabled roof and front porch. According to the Historic Structure Assessment (HSA) completed
for the property in 2024, a single addition on the eastern side of the house was added as a deck
before 1948 and was enclosed thereafter. Changes to the building also include a bay window
and greenhouse on the south side, both added in 1989.
The house has maintained many of its original features, including the siding, windows,
and trim. It is unclear if the front door is original.
This property was registered with the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 with the
following architectural description:
Wood frame Queen Anne Vernacular house characterized by large projecting
bay. Trim on front fagade includes diagonal shingles in gable of projecting bay,
with slender columns separating the three "walls" of the bay. Plain window and
door frames. Shed -roof porch supported by round columns extends over portion
of fagade of main house. Shed -roof carport added in c. 1980 off south side.
El
