Depending on the weather, staff will most likely have the first round <br />of mowing completed by May 23, 2025. <br />5. Staff installed approximately 80 square feet of StaLock, a polymer mixed crusher fine <br />material that should be more resistant to erosion from precipitation and use. The city has <br />discussed the use of this material and is testing it at a few locations. The sites where staff <br />have installed, or plans to install this material, will be monitored for longevity, durability, <br />and cost. More StaLock may be installed if staff is satisfied with its durability, performance <br />and cost benefit analysis. This material is made to exceed standard crusher fines durability <br />while still matching existing trail material color and feel. <br />6. The "Installation of Trail Access & Emergency Closure Infrastructure Project 2024" is <br />wrapping up after a warranty issue with the powdering coating on the bollards was <br />identified. The contractors are in the process of providing repairs. <br />Resource Protection: <br />1. Both rangers are attending Ranger Excellence School in Estes Park the week of May 19- <br />23. Rangers will take part in a variety of sessions that touch on all aspects of resource <br />protection. Highlights include an Emergency Medical Responder certification course, a <br />Mental Health First Aid class, and a one -day Spanish language training. <br />2. Rangers have observed high visitation and enforcement on all open spaces. They have <br />been placing a particular emphasis on patrolling properties with bodies of water to check <br />fishing licenses. <br />3. March patrol mileage exceeded any previous month on record, in large part due to <br />leveraging e-bike patrol. <br />Education and Volunteers: <br />1. Volunteers worked on six different Open Space properties and contributed 35.5 hours <br />during Earth Day week completing trash pickups, weed control, and replanting. <br />2. Eleven Open Space properties have been Adopted for this year. <br />3. The Bridge House Ready to Work group will be helping fix and install new prairie dog <br />fencing on Davidson Mesa in late May. <br />4. The Marketing team has created an Open Space education brochure for distribution at <br />events and City public buildings. The brochure covers events for April through August. <br />5. Volunteers have registered to assist with Dark Sky Monitoring with the Ranger Naturalists. <br />Education Events Upcoming: <br />1. Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 8:30 to 10:30 AM, Native Plant Walk at Davidson Mesa. <br />11 <br />
