Ginger also provides information to the city
website, three Instagram accounts, the Louisville Buzz, and two mobile apps. She
uses Next Door and Print materials frequently, and the Louisville Lantern, which
comes to community members in the mail.
Ginger has promoted POS and Rec open house events, park naming
contests, communicated maintenance activities and schedules (including
dandelion issues), Arboretum renovations, installation of Bermuda grass
turf demonstration garden, water conservation programs, and has used
yard signs with QR codes for communication with the community.
Louisville will soon have a new page for the Arboretum on the city website.
Up -coming events include launch of the review of the City Long Range Plan, and
the openings of the renovated and restored Sunflower and Enclave parks, currently
scheduled for July 10.
Abby: Appreciates the opportunity to share the activities of the parks and ground
maintenance that is going on to show the community what has been accomplished.
A case in point is the improvements underway at the Arboretum.
Ginger has mailed out postcards about park openings, tree trimming and removal
operations, median replacement work, and the discontinuance of glyphosate and
2-4D in park and recreation areas. These efforts help give city staff the credit and
acknowledgement that they deserve and appreciate.
Jody: Community members are all busy and both need and appreciate
straightforward and frequent communication! Communication also creates
support for public works projects.
Ginger and her assistant used graphics, animation and humor to communicate the
issues around removal of the huge cottonwood tree on Dillon Road.
