RESOLUTION NO. 55 <br />SERIES 2025 <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING A PURCHASE CONTRACT TO BUY AND SELL REAL <br />ESTATE AT 1016 MAIN STREET AND AUTHORIZING THE USE OF HISTORIC <br />PRESERVATION FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE PRICE <br />WHEREAS, the City has established an Historic Preservation Fund ("HPF") to <br />account for revenues derived from the City's temporary 1/8 percent sales tax and 1/8 <br />percent use tax for historic preservation purposes; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council previously adopted Section 3.26.605 of the <br />Louisville Municipal Code and Resolution No. 17, Series 2019, which include provisions <br />related to the administration and use of monies from the HPF; and <br />WHEREAS, Resolution No. 17, Series 2019, identifies the purposes for which <br />Historic Preservation Fund monies can be used, including the "purchase of historic <br />properties or properties which contribute to the historic character of Louisville;" and <br />WHEREAS, Section 3.26.065.D of the Louisville Municipal Code further provides <br />that HPF monies may be used for the "acquisition and rehabilitation of historic properties <br />to be sold with conservation easements;" and <br />WHEREAS, the property located at 1016 Main Street in Louisville (the "Property") <br />is one of twelve Louisville properties that were nominated for and received designation <br />under the National Register of Historic Places in 1986; and <br />WHEREAS, the Property exemplifies the modest lives of Louisville residents in the <br />late 19th and 20th centuries; provides a distinctive example of mail-order house <br />construction and of the building industry; and adds to the historic character and <br />architectural integrity of Old Town; and <br />WHEREAS, following a request for demolition by the Property owners, the Historic <br />Preservation Commission placed a maximum -allowed 180-day stay on the demolition <br />request, which will expire on September 1, 2025; and <br />WHEREAS, the Property owners have offered to sell the Property to the City, and <br />a purchase contract for the Property has been prepared; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the use of HPF monies to purchase the <br />Property is appropriate and consistent with the purposes identified in Resolution No. 17, <br />Series 2019; and <br />Resolution No. 55, Series 2025 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
