ICity0f
Louisville
Historical Museum
Memorandum
To: Historical Museum Advisory Board
From: Gigi Yang, Museum Services Supervisor
Date: September 17, 2025
Re: Museum Services Supervisor's Report
The Museum had a successful summer of programs and visitors to the museum. We introduced
several different program series and walking tours which were well received by the public.
The six -part Preschool Nature Play series brought 132 preschoolers, siblings, and parents to
explore the Museum campus and learn about trees, flowers, bugs, animals, outdoor work, and
plants. Evaluation survey responses from parents were uniformly positive with appreciation for
the time and space to explore nature and the chance to socialize with other children. They also
enjoyed the crafts and story times. The biggest request was for more programming as the class
sizes were capped at 12 students, they did fill up quickly. We are pleased with the community
response to this program as summed up by these two parent comments:
"[I] appreciate this effort for the kids, staff inside museum was great too! Hope this keeps
happening for the town, great place for grandma's to take grandchild!"
"The lead teacher absolutely made the program. She was phenomenal, super great with the
kids, managing the class on age and engaging in age appropriate ways. It was super nice as a
parent to have such a quality program for my preschooler."
On August 30, we were very pleased to launch Bloomberg Connects at the Members Only
event. We introduced Museum members to the self -guided digital tour of the three buildings on
the Museum campus that is now available on the Bloomberg Connects app. We are working on
adding audio descriptions and narration by the end of September and will begin marketing to the
general public in October. Bloomberg Connects allows current visitors to the Museum to use the
app to enhance their visit and remote visitors can now peruse Museum buildings from home.
We started Louisville History Month off with the launch of the America 250/ Colorado 150
anniversary events at the Labor Day Parade. Board members from HMAB, Louisville History
Foundation, Cultural Arts Board, Museum staff, and volunteers under the umbrella of Cultural
Services marched and handed out lollipops with the new Louisville Sesquisemi lantern emblem
and attempted to teach the crowd how to pronounce "sesquisemiquincentennial."
