The PROST element of the Comprehensive includes a trail connectivity map that shows a proposed new trail connection through the existing 10-acres of open space that was dedicated in 2002. This trail would connect existing trails along 88th Street to the US 36 trail system. There have been past planning efforts to determine a preferred alignment of this trail, but it has not yet been constructed. The applicant has requested that the additional 7.5- acre dedication area not include improvements such as trails. The applicant requests that the new public dedication area be designed as Open Space - Preserved land with no trails, trail heads or other amenities located within the parcel. This would limit any infrastructure and improvements within the area. Once the dedication is finalized, OSAB will work with staff to identify management objectives for the property. The applicant does not anticipate a need for use of the property considering that they are proposing to remove future development allowances on the property.
