GROUND PLAN SKETCH
{ 17W1c+ym MUMMER rin/uy]
•
F I? Fr%T
. 1 1 1 f_ I I I I 1 1 1
601 Pine floorplan from Boulder County Assessor Card, 1950.
From Mike Deborski's family notes:
My grandparents, Mary and Andy, with my father Ed first lived in the garage (batch)
that my grandfather built of flat cinder blocks. These blocks, my family cast by hand
in Globeville and were also used to build a portion of the foundation of my existing
home. Andy and his nephew Leo [Deborski] would make the trek to Globeville once
a week, make a batch and bring back the load from the week prior. Construction
came easy to Andy, this was his summer job when the coal mines were off for the
season.
As long as I can remember my grandmother worked at Bungalow Drug, which later
became Walgreens. She was a kind and generous woman, sometimes to a fault. She
would consistently buy things for people in need and put them on her tab. I recall
quite often, my grandfather being upset because she brought home no paycheck.
Mary Deborski took part in numerous women's clubs throughout the 1950s, including the Home
Demonstration Club, Thimble and Tumble Club, and the Learn and Do Club. She frequently led
presentations and demonstrations on a wide range of topics related to housekeeping, health, and
crafts. Raising two sons, she was also a den mother for the Cub Scouts.
