They have a web site and are <br />currently considering developling a Business Advisory Group. On Thursday <br />January 18, 2007 members of the City Council, Planning Commission, and <br />Business Retention & Development Committee will have a joint study session to <br />discuss economic development in Louisville. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown congratulated Ms. Hogan, CC Intellect, ZVC for the web <br />site and a four-page brochure on the City for the business community. He noted <br />the Shop Louisville Program benefits the merchants and the citizens. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION No.7, SERIES 2007 - A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE <br />MEMBERSHIP, GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BUSINESS <br />RETENTIOtll & DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Community Facilitator Merdyth Muth explained the City Council informally <br />created a Business Retention & Development Committee in 2004. The goal of <br />the Committee was to begin discussions of how to better facilitate economic <br />development in Louisville. Initially, three City Council members and <br />representatives of the local business community were invited to participate on the <br />Committee. As the Committee has begun work on a number of economic <br />development programs and has also added additional members to the group, <br />members of the Committee fE!lt it was important to formally establish the <br />Committee by resolution and also to delineate the exact duties of the Committee <br />and its membership. Resolution No.7, Series 2007 establishes a Business <br />Retention and Development Committee, which will act solely in an advisory <br />capacity to the City Council. The Committee will have the following membership: <br /> <br />. Three members of City Council <br />. One member of the Planning Commission <br />. One representative from the Revitalization Commission <br />. One representative from the Chamber of Commerce <br />. One representative from the Downtown Business Association <br />. Each of the above will be appointed by their organizations <br /> <br />The Committee will have the following duties: <br /> <br />. Facilitate economic development in Louisville <br />. Improve communications between the City and local business community <br />. Share insights regarding local economic conditions <br />. Serve as a sounding board for City proposals that could impact local <br />businesses <br />. Gather information reglarding the needs and priorities of businesses with <br />respect to business re1tention and development issues <br />
