It is estimated a program of this type <br />could be done for $8,000 - $10,000. <br /> <br />BRaD did not have a specific recommendation for City Council but offered some <br />possible options: <br /> <br />1. Approve funding up to $3>0,000 for a contract for a Gift Card program with the full <br />cost and management of the program being borne by the City; <br />2. Approve funding for a contract for a Gift Card program but only if the Chamber of <br />Commerce and Downtown Business Association assume a proportional amount <br />of the program costs; <br />3. Approve funding up to $10,000 for the creation of a Shop Louisville Marketing <br />campaign; <br />4. Discuss additional alternatives <br />5. Do nothing <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown reported the BRaD committee discussed the programs at great <br />length and explained the idea is to keep Louisville dollars in Louisville. He outlined the <br />Gift Card concept and noted a unique vendor will issue the (Master Card) Gift Card in <br />Louisville only. He explained thBre must be an entity to administer the program. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMEMNT <br /> <br />Garrett Mundelein, 555 County Road, Louisville, CO asked if the program was citywide <br />or just in Downtown. He also asked if the card company requires a municipal partner or <br />whether a local group could administer the program. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Brown explained the program is citywide and could be administered by a <br />local merchant or merchant association, but the program will require oversight from one <br />source to audit the program and maintain financial control. <br /> <br />Rob Lathrop, 601 Johnson, Louisville, CO and a member of the BRaD Commitee, <br />supported the Shop Louisville Campaign and congratulated Mayor Pro Tem Brown for <br />his work on the project. He noted there must be a level of support from the City and the <br />merchants to make the Gift Card program successful. <br /> <br />Deborah Krueger, 178 So. Polk Avenue, Louisville, CO supported the Shop Louisville <br />Campaign and stated it would hl31p the local business owners. She suggested business <br />owners meet with the BRaD committee to share ideas. <br /> <br />Walt Oehlkers asked what benefit the Gift Cards would be to Louisville. Mayor Pro Tem <br />Sisk stated the benefit would be retail sales tax dollars would remain in Louisville. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Council member Sackett supported adopting such programs and suggested the City <br />partner with the Chamber of Commerce on the Gift Card program. <br />
