Proposed new mission statement for the Historical Commission: <br />The mission of the Louisville Historical Commission is to promote public awareness of the <br />history of Louisville, Colorado and its surrounding community, with an emphasis on the <br />coal-mining era, 1877-1955. The primary role of the Historical Commission is to act as an <br />advisory board to the Louisville City Council on matters relating to the Louisville Historical <br />Museum and Louisville history. The Commission establishes and monitors criteria for the <br />collection, preservation, and display of historical artifacts, documents, and structures by <br />the Louisville Historical Museum.
