<br />Section 1207.1. Enclosed portions of buildings and <br />structures in Groups A, B, E, F, H, I, and M occupancies <br />customarily occupied by natural persons, other than the <br />locations specified in Section 1207.3 through 1207.7, <br />shall be provided with a mechanically operated <br />ventilation system. The mechanically operated <br />ventilation system shall be capable of supplying <br />ventilation air in accordance with Table A-12-A during <br />such time as the building or space is occupied. <br /> <br />Exception: Existing buildings in Group B Occupancy <br />or buildings changing to a Group B Occupancy that are <br />less than 1000 square feet or have an occupant load, as <br />defined in this Uniform Building Code of, no more than <br />six, may utilize natural ventilation by means of operable <br />exterior openings with an area of not less than one <br />twentieth of the total floor area of such portion of the <br />building. <br /> <br />B. Section 1203.2 of the Uniform Building Code <br />shall read as follows: <br /> <br />section 1203.2. Guest rooms and habitable rooms <br />within a dwelling unit or congregate residences shall be <br />provided with natural light by means of exterior glazed <br />openings with an area not less than one tenth of the <br />floor area of such rooms with a minimum of 10 square <br />feet. <br /> <br />Exceptions: 1. Kitchens in Group R Occupancies <br />may be provided with artificial light. 2. The <br />natural light requirement for habitable rooms <br />in basements of existing buildings and new <br />buildings with unfinished basements intended <br />for future habitable space of dwelling units <br />or congregate residences may be reduced by <br />twenty-five percent. Sleeping rooms must meet <br />the requirements of Section 310.4. <br /> <br />C. Section 1203.3 of the Uniform Building Code <br />shall read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1203.3.
