Business Retention & Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 2, 2012 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />thth <br />July 4Fireworks cancelled and instead a July 4fundraising event in downtown is scheduled <br />from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. to benefit the fire victims. <br />Dana Alford, McCaslin Business District brought up a couple of housekeeping items, <br />1)Askedthat McCaslin Business District be recognized as a group associated with the <br />BRaD committee. <br />2)Supports the proposed underpass at US36 and Davidson Mesa – would like staff to <br />consider doing the small area plan for the McCaslin District first because there is a <br />higher probability of return on investment than on South Boulder Roadsmall area plan, <br />and also feels the small area plan and the wayfinding projects overlap. <br />City Manager Fleming said the small area plan and wayfinding is planned in 2013.Director Russ <br />commented there are efficiencies working on these projects together. <br />Gavin McMillan, Planner II, said that during the last week of August, the Planning Department will <br />lead a design charette for the McCaslin Corridor as part of the Comprehensive Plan Update. Staff <br />will be assisted by an Urban Designer to begin the visioning process for the future of the Corridor. <br />This exercise will be the prelude to the small area plan that will take place in the future. <br />Councilmember Dalton encouraged all business owners in the McCaslin District to show up at this <br />meeting. Michael Menaker encouraged staff to look at connectivity in the area of McDonalds and <br />crossing over Dillon Road to Kinko’s and Outback Restaurant side. This is a very unsafe <br />crossing here. <br />DISCUSSION ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING <br /> - <br />Approve June 4, 2012 Meeting Minutes <br />Revisions to Drought Management Plan – evaluate the business component. Councilmember <br />Dalton asked for some water data preparation for this discussion. Aaron will send out the current <br />Drought Management Planprior to the next meeting. <br />Highway42 Update <br />Grain Elevator Update <br />The “information only” meetingwas adjourned at 8:54AM. <br />ADJOURN – <br /> <br />
