Department of Planning and Building Safety
Building Safety Division
749 Main Street Louisville CO 80027 303.335.4584 www.louisvilleco.gov
MM
EMORANDU
To:Honorable Chair and Members of the Building Code Board of
Appeals
From:
Planning and Building Safety Division
Subject:
Review of the City Council Study Session
Date: September 20, 2012
On August 28, 2012, the Building Code Board of Appeals met in a study session
with City Council.
A few suggestions and questions were identified by City Council. City Council
asked the Board on the possibility of making the green component of the codes
more of a voluntary aspect rather than required and if there has been a study of
the life cycle cost for constructing a building to a higher green code.
City Council also suggested the Board hold more meetings with the public and
other City Boards to discuss what they would like to see included and what
direction they would like to see the Board head toward the adoption of the 2012
ICC codes.
City Council also believes it might be best for the Board to further review and
possible focus studies on the code changes prior to the adoption of the codes.
This will help to determine the extent of the adoption of the 2012 ICC codes.
