2. Collaborate with the Louisville Planning Commission to review, revise, and update
the Community Development Design Standards & Guidelines.
3. Address lack of public outreach concern by utilizing various media and collaborating
with other city advisory boards.
4. Review landscaping at McCaslin and Dillon and replenish if necessary.
5. Implement the Landscape Beautification Master Plan as budget allows.
6. Redevelop an Arboretum Master Plan. — this will be delayed until the plan for the
police station on McCaslin/Via Appia corner is finalized.
This board needs to review the guidelines — markup and return it to the Planning Commission. We could
then start reviewing proposed landscape plans based on guidelines with which we are comfortable. Group
agreed to start review of the guidelines.
New Business
Police Station Meeting
Mike & Betty attended the police station public meeting July 17. The site planning is incomplete — for
instance, drainage hasn't been determined. There was no discussion of alternative sites.
After the meeting Betty had the chance to talk with Paul Wood, planning director. He offered to send a
referral packet to HFAB so that HFAB can provide comments to the planning commission. The planning
commission hearing is August 23 or the 27, so Betty's not sure how that timing will shake out in terms of
HFAB's August meeting schedule. It isn't clear if this is on their agenda. HFAB needs to decide who
should receive that packet.
The packet availability is not known. Betty e- mailed Paul Wood seeking the packet but has not received a
response. Much discussion followed on the parking lots. HFAB wants the public lot to have flexible
parking time restrictions — minimally 2 hours to no limit. HFAB is concerned with the lack of a formal site
plan which incorporates the access to the arboretum, recreation center and any new surrounding facilities.
The plan must accommodate ADA requirements.
Work Session(s)
Tuesday, August 20, 2002 6 PM at the recreation center to review site plan packet for police station. If
packets for planning commission aren't ready, but will be on Friday August 23, we will meed on Monday
August 26 at 6PM.
Adjournment
6:55PM
