HFAB Website
David Sexton reviewed contents of his current forestry web page. Polly is adding additional land management
issues and data. David is looking for content — anything HFAB would like to add to the web site.
Betty suggested a virtual tree tour of Louisville. David is game — just needs pictures and basic data such as location
and description. Even a physical, organized tour of our outstanding trees would be nice for next year's Arbor Day.
Locust is east of the elementary school on Lincoln.
Japanese Tree Lilac is between City Hall and museum.
Red Oak is on McKinley near McKinley park.
Bald Cypress is on Wildrose Court off Pine.
Cottonwood in Cottonwood Park.
Catalpas on Main Street.
City Drought Procedures
Outdoor water will cease on 10/17. David will be meeting with city personnel to work out the details on woody
plant watering guidelines. -
The Community Tree Alliance has been formed to bring all the tree and city people together to work on education
and establish guidelines for general tree care and watering recommendations.
www.watersaver.org is their website.
Work Session for Commercial Design Review
Review has gone through page 7 of the Commercial and Industrial Guidelines. Developers are requesting reductions
in sod requirements. 10/24/02, 6:00 p.m., at rec center is the next work session for this topic.
• New Business
Champion Trees of Colorado- Pat Hayward
Discussion as to whether to have her for Arbor Day 2003 or go on and have her for education now.
David suggested that perhaps a combination of tree education: selection and care, with Colorado Champion Trees.
This is on the December agenda — board is thinking a February presentation. David to touch base with Pat.
Betty Solek's Open House
Sunday, October 6, 10 -12PM. Tom Mayer fundraiser and garden tour.
Interviews for Land Design Implementation
Chuck Reno, not a landscape architect. Has worked for Highlands Ranch; park superintendent background.
Excellent writing and administration skills. Was offered the job and will start 10/7.
Sign Standards
Desire is to change the standard park signs. Cindy wants to add kiosks and educational signs along trails throughout
the city. David will not be working with the firm in Lafayette. May even want to have signs that can be moved
from one location to another.
Adjournment
7:30PM.
