Louisville City Council Meeting <br />November 6, 2001 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />MOTION: Sisk moved that Bruce Joss be appointed as Municipal Judge, seconded by <br />Brown. <br /> <br />Davidson commended the Legal Committee for their diligence in the selection process. <br />He commented that Joss is qualified and has served as Prosecuting Attorney for the City <br />for many years. <br /> <br />Sisk offered a friendly amendment that the appointment should become effective as of <br />December 1, 2001, and extend to the end of the term, January, 2002. <br /> <br />VOTE: All in favor. Mayer and Howard excused. <br /> <br />Sisk noted that Joss was present and he congratulated him on the appointment. <br /> <br />Joss addressed the Council and voiced his appreciation for the Council's vote of <br />confidence and stated that he was honored by the appointment to Municipal Judge. <br /> <br />City Administrator Simmons stated that the City Clerk will swear Joss in at the next City <br />Council meeting. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION - FAMILY CAREGIVERS MONTH <br /> <br />Davidson proclaimed November as Family Caregivers Month in Louisville. The <br />proclamation was presented to family caregivers Walt Oehlkers and Sheila Newton, <br />members of the Louisville Senior Board, and Sherry Leach from Boulder County Aging <br />Services. <br /> <br />Sheila Newton, representing the Louisville Senior Board, thanked the Council for <br />proclaiming November as Family Caregivers Month in Louisville. She introduced <br />members of the Louisville Senior Board; Walt Oehlkers, Pat McNutt, Jerry McNutt, Ann <br />Kahn, and Harriet Langley. She also introduced the Director of Senior Services, Cathy <br />Bittler and Boulder County representative, Sherry Leach. Newton thanked Cathy Bittler <br />for her leadership over the past twenty years. <br /> <br />Sherry Leach, Boulder County Aging Services, thanked the Louisville City Council for <br />the support given to the family caregivers of older adults and their families. She noted <br />that family care giving has become a normal state in this country. As people live longer, <br />the years of healthy living are extended, as well as the years of dependency and frailty. <br />She stressed that most of the care is provided in the home by caregivers. By proclaiming <br />November as Family Care Givers Month, the Council has asked the citizens to recognize <br />the caregivers. <br /> <br /> <br />
