ORDINANCE NO.1158 AN ORDINANCE MAKING THE POSITION OF CITY TREASURER APPOINTIVE RATHER THAN ELECTIVE IF APPROVED BY THE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, AND CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION THEREON. WHEREAS, state law permits the City Council of the City of Louisville to submit for the approval of the registered electors of Louisville a proposal that the position of City Treasurer be made appointive rather than elective, the appointment to be made by the City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the registered electors of Louisville should be given the opportunity to decide whether the position of City Treasurer should be appointive rather than elective. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: Section 1. Sections 2.24.010 and 2.36.010.A. of the Louisville Code are amended as follows (words proposed to be added appear in capital letters; numbers proposed to be added are underlined; words proposed to be deleted are stricken through): 2.24.010 Election - Salary - Bond. A. A city treasurer shall be elected at each general municipal election APPOINTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL IN THE SAME MANNER AS PROVIDED IN CHAPTER 2.04 FOR OTHER APPOINTIVE OFFICES. D. !~~ city treasurer shall receive as full compe~~at~~~ ~~r his ser~ices the sum of eighteen ~~~~~~~ dollars per year, payable in montlJly pa:yment:s. €oB. Before entering upon the duties of his office, the treasurer shall furnish a surety bond to be approved by the council, in the amount of ten thousand dollars, conditioned upon the faithful discharge of his duties as city treasurer and that when he vacates such office he will turn over and deliver to his successor all moneys, books, papers, property, or things belonging to the city and remaining in his charge as such treasurer. 1
