D FasTracks <br />Northwest Rail Line <br />2013 Fact Sheet <br />NORTHWEST RAIL LINE AT A GLANCE <br />• The Northwest Rail Line is part of FasTracks, RTD's voter - approved plan passed <br />in 2004 to expand quality transit service across the Denver metro region. <br />• The Northwest Rail Line is a proposed 41 -mile diesel commuter rail transit corridor <br />that will operate between Denver Union Station and Longmont passing through <br />North Denver, Adams County, Westminster, Broomfield, Louisville, Boulder and <br />Boulder County. <br />• Seven stations are proposed along the Line: Westminster (under construction), <br />Church Ranch, Flatiron, Louisville, Boulder Transit Village, Gunbarrel, and <br />Downtown Longmont. <br />PROJECT OVERVIEW <br />• RTD conducted an Environmental Evaluation (EE), completed in 2010, that <br />identified the associated benefits and effects of implementing transit service <br />along the right -of -way owned by the BNSF Railway. <br />• The first 6.2 -mile segment of the Northwest Rail Line — from Denver Union Station <br />to the Westminster Station — began construction in June 2012 as part of the Eagle <br />P3 project and will open in 2016. This portion of the line will employ electric <br />commuter rail technology. <br />• A new study will be conducted in 2013 to determine the best mobility options for <br />the northwest communities, including phasing options and altemative alignments <br />to Longmont. The study will be completed in early 2014. <br />• RTD committed $17 million to the end -of -line station in downtown Longmont as <br />part of the construction -ready plan.
