ORDINANCE NO. 1383, SERIES 2002 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1.20.020 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING WARD BOUNDARIES -1st reading - set public hearing 5/21/02 Davidson called for City Attorney introduction. City Attorney Light read Ordinance No. 1383, Series 2002. ORDINANCE NO. 1384, SERIES 2002 - AN ORDINANCE REPEALING AND REENACTING CHAPTER 5.04 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE, ENTITLED "BUSINESS LICENSES GENERALLY", TO PROVIDE PROCEDURES FOR REGISTRATION OF BUSINESSES WITHIN THE CITY - 1st reading - set public hearing 5/21/02 Davidson called for City Attorney introduction. City Attorney Light read Ordinance No. 1384, Series 2002. MOTION: Mayer moved that Ordinance No. 1384 Series 2002 be sent out for publication and a public hearing be set for May 21, 2002, seconded by Levihn. All in favor. Finance Director Dianne Ray reviewed the provisions of Ordinance No. 1384, Series 2002, which registers businesses within the City of Louisville. She explained that the business registration ordinance is a follow-up to the sales tax ordinance, which requires an annual fee of $25.00. The prior business license ordinance required an annual license fee of $15.00. The revised ordinance changes this licensing process to a one-time registration, expiring only if the business ceases operations at the same location or ownership changes. There is no fee required. The intent is to register businesses that maintain a physical business presence in Louisville. The purpose of the registration is to maintain a database of the established businesses in Louisville to provide information to the Planning Department, for review for code violations and the Police Department for emergency contacts. Keany asked if the business registrations will be listed on the City's Web Page. Ray responded yes.
