Call to Order—Vice-Chair Theresa Rounds called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. <br /> <br />II. Roll call—Board members present: Shelly Alm, Neal Griggsmiller, Erik Gustafson, <br />Mark Newland, Theresa Rounds, Ellen Toon. Board members absent: Mike <br />Frontczak, Beverlee White. Staff members present: Dean Johnson, Joe Stevens. City <br />Council member present: Susan Loo. Guests: Barb Newland, Debby Fahey, Christian <br />Dino, Cheryl Lewis, Joan Hodgson, Michael Menaker, Jennifer Strand. <br /> <br />III. The agenda was approved by all members. <br /> <br />IV. The minutes from the June 6, 2013 meeting were approved. <br /> <br />V. Public Comment on Items not on the Agenda—Dean distributed copies of the draft <br />landscape plan for the Hutchinson Street parking area near Louisville Elementary. He <br />requested review and comment by HFAB members to be sent to him by the end of next <br />week (August 9.) <br />Mark presented a conceptual drawing of a memorial for the Newlands’ son, in an <br />existing seating area of the Arboretum. Dean advised that the next step in the process is <br />to obtain informal project pricing from a contractor, then approach City Council for <br />approval. <br /> <br />VI. Helburg Memorial at Police Building—Michael Menaker, spokesman for the Helburg <br />Memorial committee, introduced the committee members present and described the <br />proposed project. Victor Helburg was a Louisville city employee who died in the line <br />of duty in 1915. The goal of the project is to create a memorial to him and future fallen <br />officers in the form of a park at the Louisville police station, to be completed by <br />October 2015, the hundredth anniversary of his death.
