She referred <br />to the 23 million dollar bond ballot question to build a new library, expand the recreation <br />center and build two new outdoor swimming pools. She noted that City officials have <br />indicated Memory Square pool will be closed and referred to a work session discussion <br />indicating funds for the pool have been cut. This prompted her to circulate a petition to <br />keep Memory Square pool open. She stated that the suggestion of a special taxing district <br />for the Memory Square is not popular with the residents and emphasized that the pool is <br />part of the City's public infrastructure and benefits the entire City. <br /> <br />Morgan Kozin, 901 Garfield Avenue, Louisville, CO, an eleven-year old resident, <br />addressed the Memory Square swimming pool issue. She reviewed the history of <br />Memory Square Park and swimming, pool and stated they are historical landmarks and <br />noted that the residents have precious memories of the area. She explained that she and <br />her friends go to the pool everyday in the summer and enjoy social activities in a healthy <br />environment. She voiced her concern for the planning of new swimming facilities in light <br />of the current drought. She urged Council to keep Memory Square swimming pool open. <br /> <br />Mona Newton, 708 Grant Avenue, Louisville, CO, asked Council to consider revising the <br />bond issue. She stated that downtown is being treated like a stepchild and emphasized <br />the importance of a downtown area, where residents could walk or bike to the swimming <br />pool. She addressed economic development and stated that just as malls are overbuilt, <br />water parks are overbuilt.
