There has been a vigorous exchange of views which has been <br /> healthy. <br /> Planning Commission appreciates community involvement in their meetings. <br /> The 2014 priorities are: <br /> • Continue to provide support and feedback to Staff <br /> • Continue efficiently reviewing requests <br /> • Support progress on Comp Plan implementation small area/neighborhood <br /> plans <br /> • Continue to refine the City's fiscal model <br /> • Provide recommendation and analysis to Staff <br /> • Meet with other Boards and Commissions to exchange views <br /> Planning Director Troy Russ reviewed the 2014 Work Plan items. <br /> Planning Commissioner Brauneis added the Planning Commission would like to <br /> see a Dark Sky Ordinance advanced to City Council this next year. The mayor <br /> concurred. <br /> Council Member Loo asked if the City had imperial data yet regarding the impact <br /> of Food Trucks. Russ and City Manager Fleming said the City is still waiting for <br /> sales tax data. <br /> Russ reported the wayfinding initiative has been put on hold. <br /> Planning will coordinate with City Manager's Office on the McCaslin Small Area <br /> Plan <br /> Update/Discussion —Methods for Creating Historic Districts <br /> Planning Director Russ initiated a discussion regarding creating historic districts. <br /> Currently there are no designated historic districts in the City. <br /> The Louisville Municipal Code defines specific criteria for creating a historic <br /> district: <br /> • Architectural <br /> • Social <br /> • Geographic/environmental <br /> • Archaeology <br /> There was discussion regarding this as a tool rather than the landmark process. <br /> Additionally a number of Councilors discussed the issue of individual property <br /> rights and the desire to pursue voluntary/incentive programs to facilitate historic <br /> preservation rather than a mandatory process. <br />
