City Council <br /> Study Session Summary <br /> October 22,2013 <br /> Page 4 of 4 <br /> Update/Discussion — Parking Study Results <br /> Planning and Building Safety Director Troy Russ said the Planning and Building <br /> Safety Department conducted a new and expanded parking utilization study. <br /> The last study was done in 2009. Downtown Louisville has transformed since <br /> 2009 with lower vacancies and higher performing properties. Russ presented a <br /> detailed PowerPoint presentation, found in the packet, showing results of the <br /> parking study. Staff intends to use the data collected to revise the 2009 Parking <br /> and Pedestrian Action Plan. <br /> The Mayor thanked Russ and staff for the "great data" collected. <br /> Update/Discussion — Northwest Area Mobility Study <br /> Mayor Muckle and Deputy City Manager Heather Balser gave an update on the <br /> Northwest Area Mobility Study (NAMS). The purpose of the study is to look at <br /> mobility in the northwest area. A consensus has been reached among the US 36 <br /> Mayors and Commissioners Coalition (MCC) on priority improvements, such as <br /> commuter rail, as well as some interim BRT and station development prior to full <br /> implementation of the rail. More details to be worked out in the months ahead, <br /> as well as financial scenarios and timelines for the when the rail can be built. <br /> Mayor Muckle stated progress is being made. <br /> Comments: <br /> Councilmember Loo would like to see a discussion of sprinkler system incentives <br /> on a future agenda. <br /> Councilmember Dalton would like a discussion on the formation of a Technical <br /> Advisory Committee for cable and technology issues. <br /> City Manager's Report: <br /> City Manager Fleming and staff met with Western Golf Properties. The meeting <br /> was productive and they are meeting again on Thursday, October 24, 2013.
