Obtain City of Louisville support for a neighborhood community garden. <br /> Provide an additional community garden for Louisville citizens - particularly those without <br />access to garden land (residents in multi family homes, with small yards, with shaded or <br />unsuitable land) <br /> Align Louisville more closely with the concepts of a livable city. <br /> Provide an opportunity for development of a strong social network. <br /> Enhance sustainable practices in Louisville through the growing of local food. <br /> Address a recreational/sustainability trend desired by citizens (over 150 citizens have <br />signed petitions supporting the garden) <br /> Beautify unused, vacant land <br /> Foster a sense of belonging and attachment for gardeners and the neighborhood <br /> Model sustainability through organic practices and efficient use of resources <br /> Promote healthy food and a healthy lifestyle <br /> Provide citousing with an opportunity to garden <br />1 <br /> Conform to intent of the PROST Master Plan to provide garden for citizens <br />2 <br /> Adhere to goals of the final Comprehensive Plan to provide a sense of community <br /> Empty lot on the NW corner of Garfield Avenue and Griffith Street.The Parks and <br />Recreation Department have proposed this site. (See Appendix A) <br /> LSAB would like to propose an alternate site - the unused lot on the NE corner of Garfield <br />Avenue and Griffith Street (See Appendix B). This site is adjacent to less housing.
