City Response to Intentional Feeding: The City will follow up with citizen in regards to the report <br />and provide citizens and adjacent neighbors with educational materials if desired. The Louisville <br />Police Department may perform a site investigation of the area for potential Municipal Code <br />violations. City staff will also send a registered letter to the resident. If the household address is <br />not available, City staff will contact the HOA and request to post informational signage in the <br />area of reported feeding. <br />It is illegal to intentionally feed wildlife as stated in Wildlife Commission Regulation 021(D): "No <br />person shall fail to take remedial action to avoid contact or conflict with black bears, coyotes or <br />fox, which may include the securing or removal of outdoor trash, cooking grills, pet food, bird <br />feeders or any other similar food source or attractant, after being notified by the Colorado Parks <br />and Wildlife that black bears, coyotes or fox are in the area and advised to undertake such <br />remedial action. Further, after an initial contact or conflict with a black bear, coyotes or fox, no <br />person shall continue to provide, or otherwise fail to secure or remove, any likely food sources <br />or attractants, including, but not limited to, outdoor trash, grills, pet food or bird feeders." <br />V. Coyote Interactions and Citv Response <br />Human and Coyote Interactions (moved to top of list) <br />Human and coyote interactions can be classified as: observations, sightings, encounters, incidents, and <br />attacks. Louisville residents are strongly encouraged to report any coyote interactions to the City via the <br />City's webpage or by contacting the City of Louisville Open Space Division. Human safety concerns <br />should be immediately reported to the Police Department. Reports received from the public are <br />recorded and managed as the City deems necessary with public safety as the City's main concern. <br />Observations- -An observation is the act of noticing or taking notes of tracks found, den locations, <br />scat findings, and vocalizations. <br />City Response to Observations: The City will provide citizens and adjacent neighbors with <br />educational materials if requested. <br />Sightings -A sighting is the visual observation of a coyote from a distance greater than 100 feet. <br />City Response to Sightings: The City will provide education materials to citizens and adjacent <br />neighbors if requested. <br />Encounters -An encounter is an unexpected direct meeting, within 100 feet that is without incident. <br />An example of an encounter may include a situation where a coyote charges humans or pets in <br />reaction to an infringement on the coyote's den or pups.
