Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes:Wednesday, September 17, 2014 <br />City Hall, 749 MainStreet,SpruceRoom <br />I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to orderat 6:30pm by Chair Mark Persichetti. Meeting <br />Minutes taken by David Hsu. <br />II.Roll Call: (Members presentin bold): Jim Bradford, Steve Domenico, Mary Ann Heaney, <br />David Hsu, Claudia Lenz, Mark Persichetti; Justine Vigil-Tapia; City-Staff Liaison Dave <br />Szabados; City-Council Liaison Ashley Stolzmann; visitor Don Parcher, Tom Brophy, Robin <br />Rathweg. <br />III.Approval of Current-Meeting’s Agenda: The agenda order was changed to address <br />community gardens first, but otherwise the agenda was approved as-is. <br />IV.Approval of August 20thMeeting Minutes: The minutes from theAugust 20thmeeting were <br />approved. <br />V. Public Commentson Items Not on the Agenda: <br />Tom Brophy presented waste numbers for the Street Faire: 96% landfill diversion by weight <br />(87% landfill diversion by volume). Tom is looking to present the numbers to City Council and <br />hopes to have Downtown Business Association buy-in for next year. <br />Don Parcher advocated a proposal to make sure residents are connected to each other, <br />partly as a response to the flood. Every resident should be connected to one or two <br />neighbors to facilitate information dissemination during an emergency. This is particularly <br />important to people who are not online or have disabilities. <br />Justine informed the Board about anapplication for a grant for zero waste. The preproposal <br />session is in October. The proposal is due November 3. From $1,000 to $10,000 grant per <br />applicant.Suggestion was made to make the farmer’s market a zero waste event. <br />Fluoride recommendation deferredto Boulder County Health because of their expertise and <br />experience with fluoride issues in other communities. <br />VI.Community Gardens Update: <br />The gardens have a planned tool shed and are in a flood plain, which requires additional <br />procedures for approval. <br />Plans have been submitted, or are in the process of submission, to the Planning <br />Commission, Public Works, the Board of Adjustment. <br />Aiming for GoCo grant application in March. <br />Robin Rathweg is a volunteer helping out with the gardens effort. <br />VII.Sustainability Roadmap Discussion: <br />Resource Conservation (Mary Ann and Mark): Team is reaching out to other boards. They <br />have contacted the Golf CourseAdvisory Board, Open Space Advisory Board, Chamber of <br />Commerce.
