ommunit udt
City of Louisville August/September 2005
City Council A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR:
Mayor Charles L. Sisk LOUISVILLE ROCKS
303.665.6889
siskc @ci.louisville.co.us T ouisville has been selected by Money Magazine as the Fifth Best City in which
Lim live for the entire United States. As citizens, you can pat yourselves on
Ward I the back for this tribute and adulation. We have a very
Dave Clabots special community which has now been nationally rec-
303.673.9116 ognized and for which we are appreciative and humble
clabotd @ci.louisville.co.us at the same time.
How do we maintain the intrinsic qualities and
Jay Keany characteristics that make us so special while we embark
303.665.4818 on the new Comprehensive Plan Update? I would
keanyj @ci.louisville.co.us
suggest that just as we have matured in the past and
Ward II welcomed new citizens and businesses into Louisville
Sheri Marsella we will continue those attributes and values as we move into the future. Why should
303.665.3276 we change those virtues because of notoriety or for that matter because of new
marsels @ci.louisville.co.us homes and new residents? I am personally more compelled and excited than ever to
welcome change, albeit not dramatic change, but change that is led by a community
Michele Van Pelt vision and incorporated into our community fabric.
303.673.9235 Consider the last several years in Louisville and some of positive changes we have
vanpelm@ci.louisville.co.us experienced. We have a new library that is coming out of the ground in our down-
Ward III town and by July of next year, we will be opening that building to be what I believe
to be the cornerstone of our downtown and arguably all of Louisville. Are we con-
Don Brown cerned about that type of change? I urge our citizens to embrace it as a very positive
303.673.0648 addition to our community. Will the new Louisville Library reflect the civic pride in
brownd @ci.louisville.co.us which all of us have a vested interest?Absolutely, it is an extension of our City and
Arnold Levihn the pride that is embedded in Louisville.
303.665.2024 I am sure that there will some complaints about issues in our future, but I am
levihna @ci.louisville.co.us confident that those concerns will projected in a very positive and constructive man-
ner befitting of our City.
City Manager Bill Simmons In the end, what is about Louisville that merits our position as the Fifth Best
303.335.4532 City as rated by Money Magazine? It starts with you, the citizens, and the pride that
simmonw @ci.louisville.co.us you have constantly exhibited. We have challenges ahead of us, but the redoubtable
City Council Meetings are spirit and confidence, not arrogance, of Louisville stand us in good stead.
held the first and third On behalf of your City Council and as your Mayor, I thank you for the opportu-
Tuesdays of each month at nity to represent you. Have a wonderful Labor Day and if you see tears in my eyes
7:00 PM at City Hall, this Labor Day, you will know that Terre and I, as proud parents, have just returned
749 Main Street. from accompanying Jennie to Wellesley College for the start of her freshman year.
To find out in which Our "little girl" has grown up too fast and Dad and Mom have to adjust to that fact.
Ward you live, please As I pointed out earlier, change is inevitable and certainly the Sisk family as well as
call Meredyth Muth at the City of Louisville are proof of this adage and we will be better for it.
303.335.4536
City of Louisville - www.ci.louisville.co.us
