Also present: Dean Johnson, Staff member and Susan Loo, City Council
member. Public guest: Elizabeth Otto. Absent: Neal Griggsmiller, Mark Newland.
III. The Minutes from the August 7, 2014 meeting were approved.
V. There were no Public Comments.
VI. City Shops Presentation / Landscape Plan Review. Tom Wiener and Brian Nicholson from
RNL Landscape Design presented the landscape renderings for the City Service Facility at Dillon
and 104 to St. The Native and Regional character of the plan included native grasses, shrubbery,
rabbit bush, and evergreens for screening. A more traditional, manicured look near the entrance
will conform with the adjacent CTC landscaping. The almost complete plan has been approved by
the CTC. HFAB member Eric Gustafson made the following shade tree recommendations:
Common hackberry, Western catalpa, English oak, and Bur oak. Fencing with relief sections,
exterior lighting, benches and tables at the entrance and in the back for the employees /guests were
reviewed. Since the site is considered a `A Gateway to Louisville' location, appropriate signage
will be required. The final plan will be presented the week of October Stn
VII. After reviewing the Hutchinson Corner Landscape Development Plan (corner of Hutchinson
and Roosevelt), the Members of the Horticulture and Forestry Board members (with the exception
of Neal Griggsmiller and Mark Newland- absent) recommended against accepting the Hutchinson
Corner dedication from the developer, and that the City of Louisville instead accept monetary
compensation. Reasons given: City maintenance, the potential risk because of an old mine shaft on
the site, and the space is not large enough to be a dedicated `pocket' park for public use.
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT • 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 335.4735 • FAX (303) 335.4738
www.Iouisvilleco.gov
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICES 2OPEN SPACE FORESTRY TRAILS GOLF
