• Enhancing the course through planting of flowers and bulbs is an obvious
candidate for volunteer participation and Kevin Norby should be asked for advice
on what to do. It was suggested that Home Depot or Lowes may be willing to
donate material.
• It was noted that Western Golf had done a poor job of painting the clubhouse but
this might involve scaffolding and/or ladder work that was beyond the scope of
volunteer work. Painting the pump house, however, was a potential candidate.
• Local business sponsorship through advertisements was used in the past but
only when the course was run by the external management company. Council
Member Keany advised that any on- course advertisement on a city -run facility
would have to be reviewed by Council to ensure consistent application of policy.
13. Next Meeting.
The next meeting will be held in the Library on November 17. Mary Heaney of the
Sustainability Board will make a presentation at this meeting. No meeting will be
held in December and, to avoid conflict with Public Holidays, the first two meetings
of 2015 will be held on January 12 and February 9 respectively.
14. Adjourn
There being on further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:20pm Motion
proposed by Sandy Stewart, seconded by Lisa Norgard.
7
