· Louisville City Council Meeting·
January 7, 2003
Page 2

PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA

Steve Loveday, 1570 Kennedy Avenue, Louisville, CO, and Blake Rennich, 669 Hickory
Street, Louisville, CO reported they researched the City's land management issues for a
US Government class. Loveday stated that recreational areas are not growing as much as
the buffer zones. He noted recent land purchases increased buffer zones, but not
recreational areas. They suggested the City increase recreational areas to provide for
youth activities, such as football fields, parks, BMX bike courses and skate parks. They
thanked Council for the opportunity to address their land management concerns.

Fred Elbel, 10137 W. Dartmouth, Lakewood, CO addressed immigration reform and
overpopulation issues facing Colorado. He invited members of Council to participate in a
reception and debate, hosted by Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform (CAIR) and
VASER Consulting of Aspen. The debate will be held on Wednesday, January 8th, 2003,
from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the CU Denver Auraria Campus.

Frosty Woolridge, 1457 Ford Place, Louisville, CO, addressed the problem of
overpopulation in the United States. He distributed a poster and written information,
which outlined the consequences of overpopulation. He requested that Council invite him
to a study session to discuss the overpopulation problem and adopt a Resolution that
would take action to stabilize the population.

COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON
THE AGENDA

Davidson asked Council to review the ordinance regarding trailers at a future work
session for possible revision. He reported receiving emails from citizens relative to the
ordinance and after review of said ordinance, felt it should be re-examined. He asked
Police Chief Goodman to instruct officers to refrain from issuing tickets for trailer
violations under the current ordinance.

REGULAR BUSINESS

RECOGNITION OF COUNCILMAN TOM MAYER

Mayor Davidson recognized Councilmember Tom Mayer, who has served the City of
Louisville as a member of City Council from January 1992 to January 2003. Mayer will
be stepping down from his position as a City of Louisville Councilmember to begin
serving as a Boulder County Commissioner. He reviewed Council member Mayer's
many contributions to the City of Louisville. He noted that Mayer made a significant
impact on the budget, open space, open space dedication requirements, and rewrote the
City's zoning ordinance
