City of Louisville Citizen Survey <br />July 2004 <br />Executive Summary <br />Survey Background <br /> <br />The City of Louisville contracted with National Research Center, Inc. to conduct a <br />community wide citizen survey. Two thousand randomly selected Louisville households <br />were mailed the 2004 Louisville Citizen Survey. The purpose of the survey was to monitor <br />the quality of City of Louisville services and the quality of community life in Louisville. <br />This year, results also provided resident input for the development of the City-wide <br />Comprehensive Plan. Of the 1,950 eligible households who receiv <br />responded to the mailed questionnaire, giving a response rate of <br />was plus or minus 3 percentage points around any given percentage point, and plus or <br />minus 3 points around average ratings on a100-point scale. This is the first time national <br />Research Center, Inc. conducted the Louisville Citizen Survey, however it is the third <br />iteration in a series of citizen surveys completed by Louisville residents. Throughout the <br />report, comparisons to previous survey years are included where <br /> <br />Quality of Life <br /> <br />At least nine in ten respondents said that Knthruhkkdv`rdhsgdq`mndwbdkkdmsonqnfnnco <br />place to live and to raise children. A similar percent of respondents rated the overall quality <br />nekhedhmKnthruhkkd`mcsgdhqmdhfganqgnnc`r`ok`bdsnkhud <br />Seven in ten (69%) said the Louisville was anndwbdkkdmsonqnfnncook`bdsnqdshqd- <br /> <br />When converted to the 100-point scale wherd0//<nDwbdkkdmso`mc/<nOnnq+od`bg <br />quality of life average rating was considered`antsnfnnconqadssdqnmsgd0//,onhmsrb`kd <br />and each average quality of life rating was higher than the national and Front Range average <br />rating. <br /> <br />Community Characteristics <br /> <br />Ease of walking in the City received the highest average rating with an average rating of 74 <br />points on a 100-point scale, or better than nfnnc+oenkknvdcaxnudq`kk`ood`q`mbdne <br />Louisville (69), recreational opportunities (68), ease of bicycle travel in the City (67), overall <br />lighting in the City (65), air quality (65), sense of community (64) and ease of car travel in <br />sgdBhsx'52(+`kk`antsnfnnconmsgd0//,onint scale. Job opportunities and access to <br />affordable housing received the lowest ratings (35 and 36, respectively), but were still rated <br />`antsne`hq-o <br /> <br />Community Issues <br />Potential Problems in Louisville <br /> <br />About three-quarters of respondents (78%) thought that traffic congestion on City streets <br />v`r`skd`rs`nlhmnqooqnakdl`mcsvn,sgirds of respondents (64%) reported that <br />odcdrsqh`mr`edsxv`r`skd`rs`nlhmnqooqnakdlhmsgdBhsx <br /> <br />Drought Issues <br /> <br />A majority (92%) agreed that the City responded well to drought issues, with 41% in <br />nrsqnmfo`fqddldms-Nmkxdhfgsodqbdmsneqdronmcdmsrchr`fqddc <br />well to drought issues. <br />Report of Results <br />3 <br />
