Louisville City Council Meeting <br />January 21, 2003 <br />Page 8 <br /> <br />Public Works Director Tom Phare reported the two agenda items pertain to the proposed <br />Highway 42/96th Street Connection. He explained the parcel of land is the old Murphy <br />Farm, located at the top of Murphy's Hill and is approximately eleven acres in size. He <br />stated in order to construct the project it is necessary for the City to acquire the property. <br />Phare reported approximately one week ago, an offer was made for the property, but <br />there has not been any response. <br /> <br />MOTION: Brown moved that Council send out Ordinance No. 1411, Series 2003 for <br />publication and set a public hearing for February 4, 2003, seconded by Keany. All in <br />favor. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1412, SERIES 2003 - AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING <br />AND ESTABLISHING THE CITY. OF LOUISVILLE WATER AND <br />WASTEWATER ACTIVITY ENTERPRISES - 1st reading - set public hearing <br />2/4/03 <br /> <br />Davidson called for City Attorney introduction. <br /> <br />City Attorney Sam Light read Ordinance No. 1412, Series 2003, and noted the ordinance <br />has been revised. <br /> <br />MOTION: Keany moved that Council send Ordinance No. 1412, Series 2003, as <br />revised, out for publication and set a public hearing for February 4, 2003, seconded by <br />Brown. All in favor. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENT TO WARD 2 CITY COUNCIL VACANCY <br /> <br />Davidson opened the nominations for council member. He reported ten individuals <br />applied, one has since withdrawn. He stressed all the individuals are very qualified. <br /> <br />NOMINATIONS: Davidson nominated all nine applicants as candidates to fill the <br />vacancy in Ward II, seconded by Sisk. All in favor. <br /> <br />City Attorney Light outlined the procedure that would be followed: The City Clerk will <br />hand out ballots to the Council. Council will vote for one candidate and return the <br />completed ballot to the City Clerk. The City Clerk will tally the votes and announce the <br />results. If there is not a majority vote, another vote will be taken. <br /> <br />City Clerk Nancy Varra read the names of the nine candidates into the record as follows: <br />Nancy L. Deans, Greg Harms, David D. Hayes, Neva H. Huffaker, Annmarie Jensen, <br />Susan S. Loo, Sheri Marsella, Robert McAllister and Christopher N. Pritchard. <br /> <br />City Clerk Varra distributed and collected the completed ballots and tallied for votes. <br />She reported three votes for Loo, two votes for Marsella, and one vote for Pritchard. <br /> <br /> <br />
