I. APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER ~4 - DENVER COMMERCIAL BUILDERS - RECREATION CENTER K. APPROVAL OF TASTE OF LOUISVILLE EVENT L. AUTHORIZE CITY COUNCIL LETTER OF SUPPORT - OFFICE OF ENERGY CONSERVATION GRANT PUBLIC COMMENTS: NONE APPOINTMENT - CITY WATER ATTORNEY Mayor Fauson: Felt that all three of the applicants are quali- fied. I would therefore nominate all three appli- cants and ask for voice vote on appointing the new city water attorney, seconded by Howard. Motion passed 7-0 ., Carnival: If it's truly the Council's wishes and if they are truly doing what they feel is best for the City of Louisville, I think it is probably appropriate that we not appoint any of the candidates tonight. It is hard for me to overlook the fact that we had the best water attorney in the state. One that was well qualified and had the history of the City of Louisville. The reason given for Mr. Williamson's firing was that his rates were too high. If that is truly the reason then how can we appoint any of the people that we interviewed because they are either higher or competitive with Mr. Williamson. In my opinion, if we are truly interested in obtaining the best water attorney for the money, then I would recommend that we rehire Mr. Williamson for the position and I would like to make that a motion. Carnival moved to have Mr. Williamson be rehired for the City Water Attorney, seconded Fauson. Hornbostel requested that roll call be done by voice. By Roll Call Vote Motion was defeated 2-4, with Hornbostel, Davidson, Howard and Szymanski voting no. Sackett abstained from voting. The candidates for the City Water Attorney are Vranesh & Raisch, Timothy R. Buchanan P.C. and Musick & Cope. DISCUSSION: Sackett: One of the reasons that we changed water attorneys is because we weren't concerned about the rate or the work that was being done. We were concerned 2
