Building Code Board of Appeals
Minutes
June 16, 2005

MJ runs down the cost list handout.

RO says it seems like we can ask council to get this program into the budget if
we like this idea. We don't want to put ourselves in a lawsuit position.

MJ confirms that Longmont's lawsuit never materialized. They were tied up in
legal for over a year.

RO asked when can we expect ICC to add a Green Built program?

MJ answers that his ICC connections predict in 2009.

RO opens up the floor for more discussion.

MB asks for resolution clarification between Boulder and Longmont with the
current papers in front.

MJ clarifies some of the paperwork in from of the Board Members.

MP suggests to go with either Longmont, Boulder, or our own adaptation.
Personally, he adds that he likes just changing our name on Longmont's
program.

MB adds that he is not crazy about Boulder's program. It seems to constrict
residential and not commercial projects. He wonders if we are "barking up the
wrong tree"?

MP offers that residential could be done parallel to commercial if we want it to.
We thought it is a good idea to just get started with the North End project, simply
residential.

MB says you won't have a problem with the North End. All the awareness is on
residential. We are paddling with the current when addressing the North End
project.

Peter Geise says mandating now would be smart. He offers to perhaps try to
adopt some sort of program initially and see how it works out.

BO adds we can generalize, but not do all the details. Whatever we decide, it is
only an Advisory Board. Mike and his staff have to do all the work.

MJ tells MP this isn't going to Planning Commission. We recommend options to
Council. We as a group can say here is what we would like to do, and get
Councils endorsement. This Board of Appeals is just looking for some direction.
