Cityoj
Om Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
that open areas (overhangs and entrances) will not be visible from the skatepark
driveway and parking lot.
VII. Development Review Process —Troy explained that the review process for private
development projects is a 3 to 4 -month process involving specific deadlines and
milestones. The Planning Commission acts as facilitator, with the ultimate goal of
recommending that the City accept or reject the proposal. An application with
conceptual design drawings is submitted to the development review committee (which
may consist of the fire department, public works, the parks department, CDOT, and
others, depending on the impacted area.) The committee has two weeks to respond
with comments. During this part of the process, there is a six -week window for other
input and changes. In general, HFAB has been asked to review landscape plans at the
90% construction drawing phase, which is much later in the process. Members
expressed concern that it is usually too late to recommend significant changes at that
point, and requested to be included in the earlier, six -week review phase.
VIII. Study Session with City Council on Tuesday, August 11 —Items for session: See very
comprehensive notes in HFAB's June 4 meeting minutes. Additional items to mention
are: 1) board's goal to have more input early in the development review process; and 2)
how to enforce HOA and /or developer maintenance commitments. In order to include
in Council's information packet, Dean needs all HFAB materials submitted by
August 1.
IX. Landscape Median Improvement —Dean reported that Allan Gill is working on several
median improvement projects. Dean commented that some sod may be removed, and
irrigation systems may be replaced. He asked that HFAB members take note of
medians that need attention/refurbishment, and email him with the locations.
X. Arboretum Sign —Dean presented a drawing of the sign, which is very similar to the
sign at the Historical Museum. It will be placed at the corner of Via Appia and the
entrance to the Arboretum and skate park. Members expressed approval of the design
and location.
XI. Discussion items for meeting on Thursday, August 6 —Joe stated that Council would
like recommendations on the use of neonicotinoids because of their effect on bee
populations. HFAB may review the City's current Integrated Pest Management policy.
XII. Meeting was adjourned at 8:55 pm.
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT • 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 335 -4735 • FAX (303) 335 -4738
www.Iouisvilleco.gov
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICES OPEN SPACE FORESTRY TRAILS GOLF
