high quality of service and collections Libr<~ry patrons have come to expect and appreciate, in the <br />longer term a more consistent source of Library funding should be secured. It is the consensus of the <br />strategic planning committee that the primary focus of the extended Library community must be to <br />work towards determining the best funding; option and instituting a more stable funding base for the <br />Library. The Library's governance and funding could be restructured in order to secure a higher <br />level of funding through some type of regional funding model. The attainment of this type of model <br />would require comprehensive planning and very possibly intergovernmental agreements between <br />two or more regional governmental entities. it would also likely require voter approval from the <br />citizens residing within the participating governmental boundaries. All possible avenues should be <br />explored and considered, bearing in mind t:he ultimate goal of providing the Louisville Public Library <br />with the optimal resources in order to conl:inue to provide the exceptional library experiences its <br />patrons have come to expect. <br />3 <br />
