Dear Suzanne,
It was great to talk with you about providing One Action 2016: Arts + Immigration
programming with LCC.
We talked about showing Rocks Karma Arrows Part 1 (March 19th), Part 2 (April 9th),
Part 3 (April 16th). With facilitation with Glenda Russell and a guest historian as panelist
at each showing. I have already secured Thomas Andrews from the Center for the
American West as the guest historian on March 19th! I'm speaking with someone who
specializes in mining history in Louisville and Lafayette for April 9th as a special guest.
Rocks Karma Arrows is a key presentation for the One Action 2016: Arts + Immigration Project
because It explores the impact immigrants had on the Native American tribes from this area and
reveals challenges different immigrant groups faced when they came here as part of the mining
or agricultural industry. For more information on Rocks Karma Arrows see below.
Thank you for seeing if LCC would support the costs of the panelists /facilitator ($200 per film
showing); and Coffee. And seeing if the library would like to sponsor these film showings and
discussions as well.
Saturday, March 19th Film showing: Part 1: Rock Karma Arrows Act 1 (lhr). With guest historian
Thomas Andrews and facilitated by Glenda Russell. The first hour explores the Sand Creek Massacre
with a focus on how this history is woven into the founding of
Boulder. https: / /vimeo.com/145299198 (RKA Password: rka ) Bio of Thomas Andrews (Long bio:
https: / /centerwest.org/archives /6500)
Saturday, April 9th Film showing Part 2: Rocks Karma Arrows Act 2 (lhr). With guest historian
TBA and facilitated by Glenda Russell. This second part explores the history of Boulder County in
relation to the Ku Klux Klan, Japanese Internment Camps, Mining and touches on the treatment of
various people who have called this area of the country home. There is a focus on reflecting how we
could build a more equitable future. https: / /vimeo.com/145299197 (RKA Password: rka)
Saturday, April 16th Film Showing Part 3: Arrows in Motion: Rocks Karma Arrows in Historical
Reflection (50min). Facilitated by Glenda Russell. 15 historians, community leaders and educators
reflect on the Rocks Karma Arrows performance and why we should learn the diverse histories of our
community. https://vimeo.com/92639253 (Password: RocksReflectionHold )
We also spoke about showing the Do You Know Who I Am? film with a discussion on Saturday, June
18th and a live Salsa Monologue performance on Saturday, Sept 17th.
Let me know what additional information would be helpful. And please send me a Word version of the
LCC grant when you have a moment.
BEST, Kirsten
