Mayor Fauson asked for Public Comments regarding
the proposed changes in the Comp Plan.
Bill Dhieux, Fire Marshall of the Louisville Fire
Protection District, stated that they are excited
about the proposed changes in the Comp Plan and
watching Louisville grow. The Fire District is
asking for Council's support to encourage those
people involved in annexation efforts to petition
to join the Louisville Fire Protection District
as their interest is to serve the City of
Louisville.
Ann Meredyth, 950 Spruce, spoke regarding the
property surrounding the U.S. 36 Interchange and
"a mutual understanding between the Town of
Superior and the City of Louisville." Meredyth
asked Council to consider what the long term
impacts would be should Louisville decide to
include and ultimately annex this piece of
property at the Interchange and this City's
relationship with its neighbors.
John Leary, 1116 LaFarge, spoke to the issue of
having to make a decision involving major tenants
of the Comp Plan with an "appalling lack of
information" stating that "the Planning Commission
has done you no favors." Extensive marketing
analysis wad not included in the presentation to
Council and adding more commercial land is not
going to increase the commercial demand whatsoever
in the City. Protection from urban sprawl,
keeping the 1500' buffer, the City's commitment to
Superior, signed agreement or not, setting the
precedent of going over to the southside of U.S.
36 were all concerns Leary expressed and asked
Council to weigh each issue separately.
Margaret Hornbostel, 655 W. Hawthorne, asked that
Council maintain the 1500' buffer and encouraged
Council to honor the verbal agreement with
Superior. Also, Hornbostel stated that the area
surrounding South Boulder Road and Highway 42 was
in a high subsidence area and would not be
beneficial to the City of Louisville.
Mayor Fauson stated that the City would support
the Louisville Fire Protection Agency. Mayor
Fauson also stated that there is not a written
document or resolution that the City entered into
with the Town of Superior. Future relations with
surrounding cities is very important to our City,
but we are in a competitive business and must
continue to plan for Louisville's future. Mayor
7
