Horticultural & Forestry Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />July 3, 2008 <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />that City will place announcement of openings in local newspapers late <br />this fall (at usual time for volunteer board openings), for appointments <br />beginning January 2009. <br />VIII. Arboretum updates: <br />Pergola construction is underway but has been delayed by contractor <br />schedule and permit issues. Expected completion date is mid- to late <br />July. <br />501 c(3) paperwork is still with city attorney. Chris will contact Joe <br />Stevens to ask for help in expediting process. <br />Tree identification: Boulder County Youth Corps will work on placing <br />new posts; Chris will order metal plates to be engraved. <br />Xeric demonstration garden will be weeded and watered by Chris' <br />crew. Chris plans to request ongoing garden maintenance as a line <br />item in his budget. Discussion of increasing police presence in <br />Arboretum area to protect pergola, other arboretum features, skate <br />park, etc. August HFAB meeting may be scheduled at Rec Center <br />in order to include an Arboretum site visit. <br />IX. Website development: no discussion. <br />X. Library presentations: no discussion. <br />Meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm. <br />
